Imagine a single pill that would make all your pain go away – or prevent pain from happening in the first place.

Being I am not a chemist, I unfortunately have not invited this magic pill. I did, however, found a way to decrease pain, improve joint function and prevent loss of mobility.  The reason this won’t actually be a million-dollar idea is because: (A) you have to physically do something and (B) you need to do it on a daily basis.  It may not be a pill, but by teaching you how to perform Controlled Articular Rotations (CARs), I am teaching you something with a million-dollar valuation.

What are CARs

They may just be the best thing since slice bread?

CAR’s are large circular movements at your joints end range of motion. We use varying levels of body tension while performing CARs to aid in the control of motion. By doing so, we are able to reap three distinct advantages.

Maintaining Range of Motion Throughout Your Life Time

We use rotational movements near the end range of motion to ensure that you hit every aspect of the joint possible to prevent loss of motion as we age.

The reason you’ve lost range of motion throughout your lifetime is not that you’ve gotten older, it’s because you haven’t moved into those ranges of motion for a long period of time.

The body is very efficient and it does what it can to preserve its precious resource, energy.  If you stop utilizing certain ranges of motion your body atrophies those mechanoreceptors to save energy. Unfortunately, this is how you lose your mobility levels.  Another example of this is maintaing muscle mass. Muscle requires more energy then fat, so if you cut calories and stop working out your body will rid itself of the muscle giving you that resemblence to the Stay Puft Marshmellow Man.

Maintain Joint Health

By moving a joint through its full range of motion on a daily basis, you help bring nourishment and lubrication into the joint helping to maintain it’s health.

During physical therapy, I look at rotation of a joint as an indication for how “healthy” that joint is.  CARs are a great way to assess rotation of a joint and can give you a lot of information on how well that joint can move.

Assessment of Your Joints

This may be my favorite benefit of CARs.  The ability to assess every joint in your body creates awareness of how your body functions on a daily basis.

If your CARs feel smoother and bigger over time, it means your joint function is improving.  If your CARs fell worse or become painful you now know that something is wrong BEFORE THERE IS AN ACTUALLY A PROBLEM!

The best part, it takes only about 8-9 minutes to perform a total body CARs routine.  In less than 10 minutes a day you can improve your joint health, ROM, strength and assess your body daily.  I guarantee if you do these everyday for 30 days your body will feel a hell of a lot better than you do right now.
